Rationale

The apocalyptic books of Daniel and Revelation provide mankind with the most detailed disclosure of coming prophetic events in the Bible. These books have captivated the attention of Bible students for centuries and continue to arouse keen interest from scholars and laymen alike. It is essential that students of Scripture understand the purpose and content of these two books. Accurate comprehension of these books is critical to the development of a biblical view of prophecy and the end times.

 

Measurable Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

A. Summarize the basic content and interpretive issues of the books of Daniel and Revelation

B. Articulate and defend the conservative position pertaining to the date, audience, and authorship of each book.

C. Apply a literal hermeneutic to the interpretation of Daniel and Revelation.

D. Defend the pre-tribulation pre-millennial view regarding the nature and timing of the tribulation and millennial reign of Christ.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will participate in 3 Discussions. Each Discussion has 2 parts: the thread and the replies. The thread will be in response to the provided promptly. Each thread must be 400–500 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads or other replies made to classmates’ threads. Each reply must be at least 150 words. (MLOs: A, B, C, D)

Essay Assignments (3)

The student will complete 3 interpretive essay assignments. Each essay must be 1000–1500 words and will answer a specific, provided question. All sources must be cited through footnotes. Each paper must be completed in the current Turabian format. (MLOs: A, C, D)

Quizzes (4)

Students will take 4 quizzes based on the Learn material as well as general Bible content. Quiz: Daniel 1-6 and Quiz: Revelation 1-11 contain true/false and multiple choice questions and have a 60-minute time limit. Quiz: Daniel 7-12 and Quiz: Revelation 12-22 contain true/false and multiple choice questions, as well as one essay question, and, have a 60-minute time limit. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes. (MLOs: A, B, C, D).
