Rationale :
This course explores theoretical perspectives and empirical data on disorders in children from infancy through adolescence. Students will be introduced to salient concepts, research, and controversies in the field of exceptionality. This course will enhance students’ understanding of various disorders (e.g., etiology, diagnosis, prognosis, current research) and related interventions.

- The student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt.
- Each thread must be at least 400 words and be written in the current APA format.
- The thread must include at least 1 textbook, 1 research, and 1 Bible citation. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 1 other classmate’s thread.
- The reply must be at least 300 words and be written in the current APA format.

Homework Assignments (12) :
The student will complete each assigned Mastery Training knowledge quiz. Each Mastery Training will cover content from the chapter readings (MLO A, B, C).
Quizzes: Video Activities (9) :
The student will watch a video for each assigned chapter and complete a brief quiz at the end of each video (MLO A, B, C).
The student will submit a title page and reference page formatted according to current APA student standards. Both the title page and reference page must be submitted in one document. Formatting should comply with current APA standards. (MLO C).
The student will submit an annotated bibliography containing a 150-word annotation for each of 5 peer-reviewed journal articles. Formatting should comply with current APA standards. (MLO C).
Research Paper: Final Submission Assignment :
The student will write a research paper examining a disorder/disability of interest or which he/she feels called to work. This assignment must be in current APA format, citing a minimum of 10 current (past 5 years), peer-reviewed, scholarly sources in addition to the textbook and the Bible (MLO A, B, C, D, E).
Overall Quizzes (8) :
Each quiz covers the Learn material for each assigned Module: Week. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes and have a 90-minute time limit to answer 24 multiple-choice and true/false questions. (MLO A, B, C, E).
