This course provides a foundational understanding of healthy sexuality based on a psychological and Scriptural foundation. Special attention is given to the foundations of sexual development, sexual enrichment, challenges, brokenness, and controversial issues surrounding healthy sexuality.

Our pressing concern at the inception of the class is that God cares about how we perceive, understand, and behave in regard to our sexuality. This course seeks to meet that challenge by equipping students to biblically guide individuals towards a healthy sexuality.
Measurable Learning Outcomes :
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify the major sexual problems facing today’s churches and the origins of modern sexual distortions.
- Describe God’s plan for a person’s love life from first attraction through each married season of life.
- Recognize the miracle of sexuality and reproduction, and understand the basic biology of sexual differentiation.
- Understand the biblical and theological parameters that attend to adolescent sexuality, romantic relationships, and dating.
- Recognize the categories and specific diagnoses of sexual dysfunction.
- Identify and implement intervention strategies for sex offenders and victims.

Discussions (5) :
The student will complete 5 Discussions that specifically relate to the weekly reading. Each discussion will be completed in 2 parts:
- The student will submit a thread in answer to the question provided no later than 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Friday of the module: week assigned (350-word minimum).
- The student will then post replies to at least 2 other classmates’ threads no later than 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of the same module: week (200-word minimum each).
All initial posts and replies should cite the course materials or external research for full credit.

Perspectives on Sexuality Paper Assignment :
The student will write a 3-4-page paper outlining their views on healthy sexuality. Specifically, what are the essential elements that characterize healthy sexuality, and in what ways do they contribute to an individual’s wholeness and well-being?
The student should support their perspectives with content presented within the class (textbook, presentations, etc.) and 5 external sources. Papers should be written in the current APA format, including a title page and reference page. This paper will be due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of Module 4: Week 4.

Sexuality Research Paper Assignment :
The student will identify a topic on sexuality from the content presented in class. Using 10 current peer-reviewed/ scholarly articles on the topic, the student will write a 6-8-page paper. The paper will concisely summarize each article, compare and contrast with the course material, and provide practical applications for the therapeutic context. Papers should be written in APA format, including a title page and reference page. This paper will be due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of Module 7: Week 7.

All Quizzes (5) :
The student will complete 5 quizzes that cover the material presented in the course textbook. Each quiz is open book/open notes and comprised of 40 multiple-choice and true/false questions. All exams will be due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of the assigned module: a week with the exception of the final quiz which is due by 11:59 p.m. on Friday of Module 8: Week 8.
