Introduction to Psychology is a scientific discipline concerned with the study of behavior. Consideration will be given to such topics as human development, motivation, emotion, perception, learning, personality, intelligence, measurement, and applied areas. Rationale :

This course is a survey of the many different areas covered within the field of psychology. It introduces students to the way psychology affects them as a person as well as its ability to help us understand, predict, and control behavior for the betterment of people. It is offered as a general education course in light of its impact on our society through the research that is being conducted and the theories that are presented.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

2. Analyze problems related to behavior and mental processes.
3. Evaluate psychological phenomena from a biblical perspective.

Essay Assignments (6) :

The student is required to write an essay using a provided prompt. Each essay must be at least 400 words, be in current APA format, and cite the course text. (MLOs: A, B, C, D; This assignment aligns with the following FSLOs: Social and Scientific Inquiry 1, 2, 3.)

Quiz: Research Overview :

This quiz will assess the student’s understanding of basic concepts related to research, theories, and worldview. The student will answer 10 questions (true and false or multiple choice). You may consult the Research Overview Presentation at any time during the quiz. (MLO: C). This assignment aligns with the following FSLOs: Social and Scientific Inquiry 1, 3.

Quiz: Biblical Worldview Indicator Report :

The student will complete and submit the Biblical Worldview Indicator (BWVI) assessment in Module 1: Week 1 and upload a copy. The assessment will be taken again in Module 7: Week 7, which will be used to complete Essay: Worldview and Psychology Assignment. (MLOs: A, B, C, D; This assignment aligns with the following FSLOs: Social and Scientific Inquiry 2.)

No of Quizzes (8) :

The student will complete 8 quizzes. Each quiz will have a 1-hour time limit to answer 35 multiple-choice questions. Quizzes are open-book/open-notes. Students are allowed one retake of each quiz (taken within the Module: Week it is assigned). When a student retakes a quiz, the highest score will be retained.
