Course Description

Covers the legal concepts, principles, and procedures behind contracts and contract law. Emphasis is placed on the formation, interpretation, modification, and assignment of contracts with instruction on breaches, remedies, and damages.

Rationale

The purpose of this course is to introduce the student to the basics of contract law. Along with other areas of law such as torts and property law, contracts law is foundational to the American legal system and the Western legal tradition. A good understanding of the law governing contracts is essential for the paralegal professional. Look over my recommended prerequisite courses at Liberty University if you need help deciding.

Measurable Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

1. 1. Identify the basic principles of contract law.
   2. Describe the steps toward the formation, performance, and enforcement of contracts.
   3. Discuss the remedies available for breach of contract actions.
   4. Synthesize all of the preceding in light of the Christian worldview.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided topic for each Discussion. Each thread is to be 250 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be 150 words.

In these assignments, the student will have the opportunity to draft contract clauses and documents.

Each quiz will cover the Learn items for that module. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 25 multiple-choice and true/false questions, and have a 1-hour time limit.
