The doctoral dissertation is the final academic requirement for a Ph.D. in nursing. This course is designed to equip the candidate with a deeper understanding of developing a research plan to equip them for a doctoral dissertation using a qualitative approach.

- Develop research questions and a corresponding research design to address a problem of practice.
- Develop a plan to conduct the research study.
- Describe the research methodology appropriate for the question/hypotheses.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the candidate will complete 3 Discussions in this course. The candidate will post 1 thread of at least 400–500 words. The candidate must then post 2 replies of at least 150–250 words. For each thread, the candidate must support his/her assertions with at least 1 scholarly citation and 1 biblical citation in the current APA format. For each reply, the candidate must support his/her assertions with at least 1 scholarly citation in the current APA format. The student will create a paper on the chosen topic for research and submit it for instructor feedback. This must be 10-15 pages and include at least 10 references in the current APA format. (MLO: A, B)

The student will choose a Methodology to investigate their proposed topic for research and submit it for instructor feedback. This must be 10-15 pages and include at least 10 references in the current APA format. (MLO: A, B, C)
Article Critique Assignment:
The student will critique a peer-reviewed article in general with particular attention to the methodology section. Write a paper approximately 9-10 pages long excluding the title page, references, and appendices, in the current APA format. (MLO: A, C)
Journal Cover Letter Assignment:
The candidate will draft a cover letter to the editor of a journal chosen for publication (MLO: E)
Requesting Permission to Use a Research Instrument Assignment:
Identify a research instrument appropriate for your research topic and draft a letter to the author (MLO: B, C)
