Rationale:
- Issues in Global Health are presented to DNP students within a background of a shrinking world system. Issues that only affected remote parts of the world 20 years ago are now affecting all areas of the globe.
- Doctoral students must understand the impact of culture and health care delivery on populations other than their own.
- A knowledge of conditions seen in Low Income, Middle Income, and High-Income countries where poverty and differing belief systems impact health is necessary for leadership in an ever-widening scope of practice.
- With the destabilization of populations that migrate and take refuge from war and geo-political unrest, come problems involving infrastructure to support health and well-being.
- Food and clean water shortages coupled with stress predispose aggregates to diseases that stable societies do not experience.
