Rationale :

This course helps students understand how to advocate for Judeo-Christian marriage and family values in the public policy arena.

Measurable Learning Outcomes :

1. 1. Identify the differences between advocacy and lobbying.
   2. Identify and define the contemporary issues threatening America’s Judeo-Christian heritage.
   3. Articulate how the breakdown of the family unit is leading to a breakdown within society at large.
   4. Develop a comprehensive and practical approach to argumentation and critical thinking to construct and present arguments on questions of fact, value, and policy for traditional marriage and family.
   5. Recognize successful technology-based and social media advocacy strategies.

Discussions (4) :

The student will participate in 4 Discussions, each spanning across two Modules: Weeks. First, the student will answer the question(s) in a new thread with a minimum of 250 words by the end of the first Module: Week. Then, the student must reply to at least 2 classmates’ threads (with a minimum of 150 words each) by the end of the second Module: Week. (MLOs: A, B, C, D, E)

Essay Assignments (3) :

Utilizing information presented in this course, as well as Scripture and academic references, write a 3-5 page essay in current APA format comparing and contrasting the traditional view of marriage with a modern view of marriage in light of a biblical worldview. The student will examine passages from scripture such as Genesis 1-2, Ephesians 5, and Matthew 19 and incorporate these into the essay. Regardless of whether you are single or married, spend some time discussing how you can be an advocate for biblical marriage in your community and world.

Research and incorporate at least two scholarly sources to support your main points. This essay will be completed in phases with the Essay: Title Page and Outline, the Essay: References Page Assignment, and the Essay: Marriage Assignment. Essay: Title Page and Outline Assignment :

The student will compose the title page and outline for the essay. The student will create a title page in the current APA format as well as compose a content outline for the essay. The outline must contain 2 levels of current APA edition headings and must include the expected references for each level.

Essay: References Page Assignment :

The student will compile a list of at least 2 outside (this number will not include the required texts or Bible), and current (within the last 10 years) references in the current APA format.

Essay: Marriage Assignment :

All Quizzes (4) :

The student will complete 4 quizzes. The quizzes are open-note/open-book. Each quiz will contain 20 multiple-choice and true/false questions. The student will have 45 minutes to complete each quiz. (MLOs: A, B, C, D)
