Course Description

This is the second of a two-course series covering advanced topics in Project Management, cross-referenced with PMBOK concepts. Topical coverage includes: reducing project duration, leading and managing project teams, outsourcing, progress and performance measurement and evaluation, project closure, and agile project management. Rationale

This course is designed for those who work or plan to work in project-based organizations. As this course builds on and develops the skills needed for project execution, management, and close-out, students who intend to make project work a significant part of their careers will benefit. Students interested in earning the PMP Certification will also find this a very useful building block for PMP preparation. While the course is geared towards project and resource managers, programmers, teachers, and engineers will also benefit from the material.

Measurable Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

1. Examine risk management planning, identification, analysis, response planning, and monitoring and control of a project.
2. Construct a project WBS, Gantt chart, and Network Diagram in accordance with best practices.
3. Assess the balance of technical, interpersonal, and conceptual skills needed to analyze situations and interact appropriately.
4. Integrate biblical principles within the field of project management.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences.

• Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided promptly for each discussion.
• Each Discussion will consist of 2 parts over the course of 2 modules: an individual thread and individual replies.
• Each thread must be 500–750 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge.
• Each thread must reference at least 3 peer-reviewed sources and must include at least 1 biblical integration.
• In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to at least two peers with each reply having 200-250 words.
• Each reply must reference at least 2 peer-reviewed sources.
• The instructor is looking for substantial, thoughtful, and critical interaction.

Case Study: Project Model Assignment

The student will complete a 3-part project model on a topic of his or her choice. The first assignment is the Proposed Project Model: Idea Submission, in which the student will submit their concept for the project. The second assignment is the Proposed Project Model: Forms and Matrices Assignment. This assignment must include a Project Proposal Overview, a Project Proposal Form, a Responsibility Matrix, a Risk Assessment Matrix, and a Stakeholder Communication Plan. The final assignment is the Proposed Project Model: Project File Assignment. This will be created using Microsoft Project and must include a detailed description of the project, a list of principle deliverables, and a breakdown of all necessary tasks, project dates, costs, and resources.

Each quiz will cover the Reading & Study material for the assigned modules/weeks. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 50 multiple-choice and true/false questions, and have a 75-minute time limit.
