Course Description

This course explores the real estate development process from a leadership and management perspective, including market analysis, site acquisition, planning and design, financing, construction, as well as leasing commitments, and ongoing management.

This course provides a comprehensive study of the development of the built environment. The study focuses on the planning and management of the complex challenges in the commercial real estate development process of various asset types. Discussions are collaborative learning experiences.

  • Therefore, the student will complete seven discussions in this class.
  • Each thread must be 500–750 words and include at least three citations.
  • In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 classmates’ threads.
  • Each reply must be 450–600 words and include two citations.
  • All citations must follow current APA formatting.
  • The student will cite the specific verse(s) for at least one Biblical principle he or she feels is relevant to the situation (explain how and why it applies).

The Essay: Final Submission Assignments will be checked for originality via the Turnitin Plagiarism tool. This assignment will allow students to submit a draft of the final submission and make any necessary edits prior to submitting the final assignment.

There will be seven essay assignments that will be a further investigation of the principles that are presented in the textbook. These assignments are comprehensive and must be completed individually by the student. Additional research beyond the textbook will be required. All references must follow the current APA format.

Development Project Assignment

The Development Project Assignment will be a comprehensive proposal and Pro-forma financial analysis of a proposed real estate development. The student will complete a ground-up real estate development proposal for a residential, retail, or office development. The paper should reflect professional writing, and current APA standards, and include at least 10 scholarly references (e.g., peer-reviewed journal articles). The body of this essay must be 2,500–3,750 words in length, not counting the title page and reference page, and integrate a biblical worldview within the context of real estate development.
