Course Detail :

This course examines advanced techniques for evaluating the financial stability of a company through its financial statements, and how the financial statements may be used for strategic planning and decision making.

Rationale :

This course  Liberty university focuses on the acquisition, analysis, and interpretation of a company’s publicly available financial statements. The creation of spreadsheets for quick analysis is stressed.

Measurable Learning Outcomes :

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

1. Pull apart financial statements to get at the relevant information.
2. Understand the relevance of cash flows, dividends, and earnings.
3. Do ratio analysis for valuation.
4. Tie profitability into valuation
5. Analyze the growth and value of a growth firm.
6. Know how to deal with the accounting methods used in financial statements.
7. Understand a firm’s P/E ratio and how to calculate what the P/E should be.

Students will complete a final project. The purpose of the final project is to allow you to use all of the concepts studied during the course to analyze a publicly traded company of your choice. After completing the analysis, you will submit a report on the financial condition of the company.
