Rationale
Every student of international business must be able to identify the key industry drivers of globalization, discuss the functions of global operations, and describe various industries in terms of their structure, characteristics, and issues. This course provides instruction in each of these three critical skill areas. Thus, the prime objective of this course is to guide the learner through a process by which they can build and improve these skills.
Measurable Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Determine the key elements driving the globalization of industries.
- Debate the similarities and differences between managing global operations versus domestic operations.
- Examine global operations value creation through knowledge management processes.
- Use basic process improvement tools to create and add value to global industries and operations.
- Investigate current major global industries and the strategies companies are employing to take advantage of the industry globalization process to create and sustain global competitive advantage.

Total and utter Discussion (4)
The student will complete four (4) Discussions in this course. The student will post one thread of at least 150 words by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Friday of the assigned Module. The student must then post two (2) replies of at least 100 words each by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of the assigned Module.
Total Case Analysis Assignments (4)
The student will complete four (4) Case Study Assignments in this course. The student will compose a response to the five prompts provided at the end of each Case Study.
Total Quizzes (4)
The student will complete four (4) Quizzes in this course. Each quiz will cover the Learn material; will be open-book/open-notes; contain 25 multiple-choice and true/false questions, and have a 90 minutes time limit.
Course Project: Global Industry Assignment
The student will complete a research paper on a global industry that incorporates global insights and trends along with the following key elements: a description of the industry, the structure of the industry, major characteristics of the industry, and major issues facing the industry.
