Course Description

This course provides for an understanding of the principles and practices of operating a multi-engine aircraft. Normal and abnormal procedures are included along with a discussion of the Federal Aviation Regulations, unique weather and environmental circumstances, aircraft systems, and the specific aerodynamics associated with multi-engine aircraft.

Rationale

At Liberty University, The multi-engine ground school course is designed to give students the necessary knowledge to meet the requirements of a multi-engine certificate. The ground course materials will provide the basis for multi-engine flight training.

Measurable Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Accurately apply safety concepts.
  2. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the fundamentals of multi-engine flight.
  3. Explain the principles of single-engine flight and the dangers associated with it.
  4. Demonstrate a working knowledge of weight and balance.

Discussion: Class Introductions

Students must submit a 2–3 minute video introduction. Students may use a multi-media platform of choice to record their videos. However, Kaltura is recommended. Specific elements stated within the discussion must be included. This will be a graded assignment. Students must also reply to at least 2 classmates’ introductions. Each reply must contain at least 150 words, including a question or a relevant follow-up response to guide the discussion.

Discussions

The student must complete various Discussions in this course. Each student will post an initial thread of 400-500 words of the assigned Module: Week for each Discussion. In addition, the student must then post 2 replies of 250 words each. These are intended to be scholarly dialogues and for each thread, the student must support his/her assertions with proper scholarly support in the current APA format with sources listed as References at the end of the post. King Schools Course

Students must complete King Schools video quizzes on the assigned Module: Week. Once the quizzes are complete, students must upload a PDF of their progress. Keep in mind this is a completion grade. Students must complete each/all assigned videos and associated quizzes in order to receive full points. This is an all-or-nothing assignment. (MLO: A, B, C, D)

Learn Summary Quizzes

The student must answer specific questions regarding the KWL chart he or she has completed for each Module: Week. (MLO: A, B, C, D)

Flight Scenario Presentation

The purpose of this assignment is to prepare a visual and audio presentation regarding various flight scenarios to include applicable references from this Multi-Engine Ground Course. The visual presentation must include a 5-minute minimum recorded Narrated PowerPoint presentation thoroughly covering all outcomes posed in the affiliated checklist. Within the presentation, you must include and cite appropriate aviation resources. A minimum of 3 sources is required.

Reflective Essay
