Course Description
This course is the third of three sequential flight training courses that include the requisite aircraft and simulator training and experience required for the FAA Commercial Pilot practical test. During this course, students will complete approximately one-third of the aircraft and simulator training and experience hours required in the applicable commercial pilot training course outline (TCO).

Rationale
This course, in conjunction with AVIA 325 and 326, will prepare the student to complete the FAR Part 141 Commercial Pilot Syllabus and pass the FAR Part 141 Commercial Pilot Practical Exam (check-ride). The practical flight training consists of scheduled weekly flight lessons with a LUSOA-approved FAA Certified Flight Instructor. Flight lessons are scheduled as simulator or airplane lessons, including a before-flight briefing and an after-flight debriefing.
Measurable Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of VFR Flight.
- Demonstrate all VFR maneuvers to PTS Standards.
- Pass Phase 8 Proficiency Ground and Flight Check.
- Pass FAA Commercial Pilot Checkride.
Course Assignment

Students must submit a 2–3 minute video introduction. Students may use a multi-media platform of choice to record their videos. However, Kaltura is recommended. Specific elements stated within the discussion prompt must be included. This will be a graded assignment. Students must also reply to at least 2 classmates’ introductions. The Flight Affiliate Handbook provides essential information for the successful completion of your flight training program and requirements. This quiz will ask you to acknowledge that you have read the FTA Handbook provided to you via the FTA Welcome Letter as well as any and all information provided to you on the Liberty University Flight Training Affiliate Program website.
The student must complete various Discussions in this course. Each student will post an initial thread of 400-500 words of the assigned module for each Discussion. In addition, the student must then post 2 replies of 250 words. These are intended to be scholarly dialogues and for each thread, the student must support his/her assertions with proper scholarly support in APA format with sources listed as References at the end of the post. As the student progresses through their Flight Training Syllabus at their Flight Training Affiliate, it is very important that the student stays on pace to complete the “Percent of TCO” requirement before the end of the course. To help the student stay fully aware of their own progress and to keep the professor informed, the student will upload the “Percent of TCO Form” verifying “percent of TCO” progress halfway through the course and before the final module of the course. This form will provide crucial information exchanged between all stakeholders (professor, student, and flight instructor/ FTA).
The purpose of this assignment is to prepare a visual and audio briefing/presentation regarding a provided flight scenario to include applicable references from this Course. The visual briefing/presentation must include a 4-6 minute recorded Narrated PowerPoint presentation thoroughly covering all necessary key elements. Within the presentation, you must include and cite appropriate aviation resources. A minimum of 2 sources, APA formatted, is required. (MLO: B, C)
In order to pass this class, the student must complete their Commercial training at an approved Part 141 Flight Training Affiliate (FTA). Once complete, the student must submit both a Part 141 Graduation Certificate and either a copy of the FAA Commercial Certificate (front and back) or a Temporary FAA Commercial Certificate if applicable.
